Council currently invests in three organisations that deliver major annual street-based festivals through the Celebrate Yarra stream of the Community Grants Program, namely: the Victoria Street Lunar Festival, Johnston Street Fiesta, and the Gertrude Street Projection Festival. Since 2022 Council has also provided in-kind support to Midsumma for the delivery of Victoria’s Pride festival.
At a Council meeting on Tuesday 17 June 2025:
Council endorsed the establishment of new funding and service agreements commencing in FY26, to be progressed through a limited Expression of Interest (EOI) process, by invitation to current event organisers responsible for the delivery of the following major events:
Council also authorised the CEO, on its behalf, to finalise funding and service agreements with successful applicants, subject to the submission of an EOI and demonstrated alignment with the key performance outcomes outlined in the Council report.
The approved funding and in-kind support arrangements are as follows:
